Therapeutic Massage: Therapeutic massage utilizes focused techniques to release adhesions (knots), trigger points, and tension. It helps to alleviate pain and misalignment, calms the nervous system, and assists in moving lymph throughout the body to assist in detoxing.
Deep Tissue: Utilizes slow, deep strokes to progressively get deeper into the muscles to release restrictions such as adhesions (knots) and trigger points. It helps to soften the muscles, increase blood flow, decrease pain and discomfort, and realign the body.
Myofascial Release (MFR): Myofascial Release (MFR) is a technique used to target restrictions within the fascial system of the body. The fascia is the connective tissue that surrounds every organ, muscle, nerve, and blood vessel. MFR uses specific, prolonged holds on different areas of the body to create a "stretch" in the fascia. By holding these positions for extended periods of time it slowly releases the restrictions that the connective tissue is holding onto. Because the fascia is 3D and multidirectional, releasing restrictions in one area helps to assist in releasing restrictions in other areas of the fascia as well. The techniques used are most often gentle, but occasionally restrictions within the connective tissue require more direct and firm techniques. The therapist will adapt based on how the client's body is responding. This treatment requires the client to wear a swimsuit or something similar to allow the therapist access to the skin while still being able to watch the body for redness and other physiological responses.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD): Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a very gentle technique in which the therapist uses rhythmic contractions to help stimulate lymph capillaries, vessels, and nodes to help lymph flow to appropriate drainage sites within the body. This type of work is geared toward helping the lymphatic system produce and move lymph to assist the body in boosting immunity, decreasing swelling, and promoting pain relief.
Intuitive Massage: Intuitive massage is a very individual experience that combines therapeutic massage with energy work. The massage therapist uses their intuition to work with the mind, body, emotions, and spirit to help assist in creating a profoundly healing experience for the client. The therapist calls upon all of their knowledge and skills to bring in the modalities necessary to create the most change for the client. This could include energy work, guided meditation, breath work, or specific manual manipulations of the muscles and connective tissue.
CranioSacral Therapy (CST): CranioSacral Therapy focuses on the craniosacral system of the body which includes the head, spine, sacrum, brain, nervous system, cerebral spinal fluid, and connective tissue. It is a very gentle technique that utilizes the bones of the head and sacrum as "handles" to release restrictions in the connective tissue. It helps alleviate pain, optimizes nervous system function, and is deeply relaxing. It is also a great option for people who have never received body work because you remain clothed for the entire session and it is very gentle work.
Energy Work (Reiki): This treatment utilizes reiki and other energy techniques to help clear blocked energy within the body. It can also help to assist the client in clearing old traumas and emotions that are being stored in the body creating dysfunction. This session is deeply relaxing, calming the nervous system and body. Sometimes this session includes some guided mediation and visualization techniques to help further clear blockages.
Reflexology: Reflexology is a type of therapy that uses varying types of pressure on reflex points of the feet and hands to help promote healing within the body, relieve stress, and increase circulation and blood flow.
SomaYoga: SomaYoga combines somatics with therapeutic yoga techniques, which work together to provide more stability & mobility in our bodies as we move into classic yoga postures (asanas). SomaYoga encourages us to meet ourselves where we are at, supporting us as we develop awareness of our soma, re-educate patterns of movement, and reset our nervous system. Class sessions during the Rooted and Rested Retreat will be curated with each student in mind and will focus on restful and restorative movement, and returning to the breath, again and again.
The Horse-Guided Connection: This experience invites individuals to engage with horses in a deeply calming and intuitive manner. Through guided breathwork techniques inspired by HeartMath, participants learn to regulate their own energy and emotional state, creating a grounded presence that horses naturally respond to. Using gentle, hands-on techniques based on the Masterson Method, we will explore subtle cues and light touch to foster trust, release tension, and encourage mutual relaxation. As the horse mirrors our inner state, participants often discover a greater sense of self-confidence and personal empowerment, along with a calming of the nervous system. This time will be a space to slow down, listen, and reconnect with oneself and with the wisdom of the horse.
